- A heritage unsurpassed: Chartered in 1849, Austin College is the oldest college in Texas under original charter and name as recognized by the State Historical Survey
- Located in Sherman, Texas, just north of Dallas. Austin College’s beautiful 70-acre campus includes updated facilities for research, teaching, study, and daily living, as well as landmarks that are part of the college's history. The campus has a 29-acre recreational area on Lake Texoma, plus over 300 acres of environmental research areas for hands-on learning.
- 4-1-4 academic calendar: fall and spring terms and four-week January term
- The campus community embraces diversity of ideas, spiritual traditions, and cultural heritage. Just over 35 percent of students represent ethnic and racial minorities. - An average 70 percent of graduates of the past 10 years have had at least one international study experience during their Austin College experience, exploring 99 countries from Argentina to Zimbabwe.

- Six Fulbrights were awarded to students in 2011. The college is one of the top Fulbright-producing institutions in Texas. Students also have been recognized with Mellon, Truman, Rotary Ambassador, and Madison awards.

- Austin College is a community where people know you by name, smile when they meet you, and care about your success.
- Well over half of students participate in community service through the Service Station, a student-run organization that matches volunteers with service needs in the community. Students also participate in Alternative Spring Break service trips and are quick to respond with volunteer trips or other activities when disaster strikes. Habitat for Humanity, Alpha Phi Omega national service fraternity, and several other volunteer organizations also have campus chapters.
- Austin College athletics programs compete in the NCAA Division III, Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference. Programs are available in men's and women's soccer, basketball, tennis, swimming and diving, plus football and baseball for men, and softball and volleyball for women. A large intramural program and fitness center area provide opportunity for all students to stay active.
- Approximately 70 campus organizations offer more than 400 leadership opportunities for students and something to meet nearly every student’s interests.
- All students have the opportunity to participate in music performance groups, theater productions, Model United Nations teams, and other activities regardless of major or class year.

- Austin College is one of the top three producers of Fulbright awardees in the State of Texas. In 2011, six students received Fulbright grants. Students regularly are accepted into the highly competitive Teach For America program and have a record of success with other awards and programs.
- Approximately 40 percent of Austin College graduates attend graduate or professional school in the first year after graduation, with impressive acceptance rates to medical and law schools. Within five years, that rate rises to 63 percent. Several graduates continue study in Austin College’s own Austin Teacher Program, providing the Master of Arts in Teaching.
- Other recent students can be found completing an M.B.A. at Harvard University or at Vanderbilt University, pursuing a degree in economics, as just two examples. Students planning careers in ministry, law, engineering, and medicine have very successful admission rates to professional schools like Tulane University, University of Texas Law School, Harvard University, UT Southwestern Medical School, Baylor Medical School, Princeton Divinity School, Columbia University, and Washington University in St. Louis.
