There are no majors at St. John's College. This unusual state of affairs is a result of the all-required academic program: all students follow the same course of study for four years. That curriculum is based on using original texts—the "Great Books of the Western World"—and examining them in discussion-based classes. The program is well-balanced between the humanities on the one hand and the sciences on the other, there being a sense at the college that the world itself is not divided into two realms. |
